CHARLESTON, S.C. – Bed bugs have been found for the second time at a Charleston Fire Department station, after a bed bug-sniffing dog confirmed their presence.
The revelation comes only a month after it was announced the station had removed the pests from Station 11 on Savannah Highway, the Post and Courier reports.
Because of the earlier issues with the pests, the department has taken precautions to prevent infestations, which Fire Chief John Tippett has considered to be “working well.” The bed bugs were noticed before a large-scale outbreak, and were confined to a “small portion of one room in the facility,” he said.
